A Captured Thought From a Wild Soul

This thought passed through my mind while driving home: I wished my hair had big flowy feathers in it and that the wind would blow through it while I sailed the cloud seas on a ship.

Jesus

"..Your Name is sweeter than the rain that falls upon
the face of dry and weary land
and causes us to turn our face again
Your Name be praised
and be lifted higher.."

I have posted this picture before, but I never get tired of it. It has been my desktop so many times in the last couple years. Its one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever seen. Something about it just draws me in and invites me to stay.

"Think I might have heard the highway calling."
-James Taylor

The Barefoot Boy

"Blessings on thee, little man,
Barefoot boy, with cheek of tan!
With thy turned-up pantaloons,
And thy merry whistled tunes;
With thy red lip, redder still
Kissed by strawberries on the hill;
With the sunshine on thy face,
Through thy torn brim's jaunty grace;
From my heart I give thee joy, -
I was once a barefoot boy!..."
-John Greenleaf Whittier
(Excerpt from The Barefoot Boy)

I don't think I really know how to rest anymore.

Goal for the rest of this week: "King of the town, Slow on down". But really. I feel like God is calling me to just stop and rest; to just be with Him and listen. Not only that but this year was JAM packed with insane stuff. I think I need to do some reflecting and digesting of what God has done in my life and in my heart. Maybe some of these reflections will become posts.

Good Luck!

I saw this while walking to my truck after work and it made me laugh. I don't think women even understand women.

P.s. (Sorry (to...steph?..mom? ha) that I have not posted much lately. I feel like what I have written has been just random shallow stuff. I guess I am just busy and less than inspired lately. Whatever.)

p.p.s. I made REALLY tastey chocolate-banana-espresso cookies that are very healthy. They have no sugar! They are just oats, cocoa powder, a banana, an egg, a tiny bit of honey, and instant coffee grounds! Yemyemyum. Cooking healthy is easy.

Royal Mirth

SCORE

Today I went to a "giant book sale" at a closed down borders (picturing huge books while walking in) in search of Anne of Green Gables. I didn't find it... but I totally scored. I got The Four Loves for $5.99 ...

A bazillion more super old National Geographics (can't resist them) for $0.50 each...

And a tacky cassette tape set thing of Korean lessons!!!!!!!!

Let the merriment commence!

OH! annnnnd while I was in there, some girls from Jamba Juice told they were giving away free fro-yo! I got pineapple/mango tart with coconut sprinkles! Double score.

I stepped outside my house this morning expecting nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, I stepped outside with no expectations accompanying me at all. In many ways, this Thursday morning was as commonplace as any.

However, one thing made this this morning anything but mediocre.... a surprise visit from my dear old friend summer!!!!!! I know that technically it is still spring.. but this morning for the first time this year, the air was slightly (and ever so pleasantly) summer scented! It is such a distinct and familiar and WONDERFUL smell.

Best surprise!!

I wonder what surprises tomorrow will bring.

p.s. I am beginning to fall very (more) in love with the wind. It is so magical.

"Though the Earth Cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Her billows calmed on raging seas
for the souls on men she craved

Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
disfigured and disdained

On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave

So three days in darkness slept
The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throes of death
And over turn his rule

Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new

On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke holding keys
To Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave

On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave

He has cheated
Hell and seated
Us above the fall
In desperate places
He paid our wages
One time once and for all."

-John Mark Mcmillan

BEAUTIFUL lyrics. BEAUTIFUL truth.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is a brilliant creature. I have a crush on a lot of dead guys... he is one of them.

Found this quote in an old bible: "The moment you stop seeking to get to know someone is the moment you start growing apart."

It rings very true of human relationships, and very very true of relationship with God. Thankfully God peruses and loves us even we shove him away and hate him. He is entirely good and faithful.
