I feel like my life lately would make even someone named Mr. Flybythe Seatofyour Pants stressed out. Cheers to having no idea how I am going to write two research papers and go to work and make it to a wedding thats 6 hours away all within like 35 hours.

Don't worry Mr. Pants (can I call you Mr. Pants?). This will probably end up being good memories.

Until Next Year

You have been good to us national poetry month! Though we must part ways for now, the memories we share will be fresh and vibrant in my heart throughout the coming summer, fall, and winter. Until next year dear friend! Au revoir

In honor of the last day of national poetry month:

"Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:

Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD."

Psalm 148

Good music makes me feel very in love with nothing in particular.

Psalm 147:10-11

"His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of a man;
the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love."

Walkers With the Dawn

"Being walkers with the dawn and morning,
Walkers with the sun and morning,
We are not afraid of night,
Nor days of gloom,
Nor darkness--
Being walkers with the sun and morning."

-Langston Hughes

Thanks Jess

P.S. National poetry month is soon coming to a close :( however my love for poetry will not end with the month of April! No, poetry and I will only become dearer friends in May.
"The Bible seems to teach that every time we say no to the Lord, there is a hardening that happens to our hearts, there is a callusing that takes place, and a searing of the conscious that happens....the problem with that is that once the heart gets hard, it begins to develop disbelief; and disbelief always leads to disobedience, which leads to a breaking off of intimacy." -Britt Merrick

Let me tell you that this is true. Its crazy how pushing away Gods voice shatters your ability to have faith and leads to utter confusion. It is scary to feel that lost. While it's awful, it is also kind of cool to see that once we have become new creations in Jesus, that living for yourself becomes impossible. It's way too miserable. I guess it's sort of reassuring. (But don't test it out ok?! Just be reassured by the Bible haha)

Alegría Santa

It is a WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL mystery how very near, how very tangible, how very sweet, and how very loud Jesus is in the darkest hardest times. It's crazy.... all of a sudden, the joy and satisfaction I have been scrambling for, is practically seeping out of every crack. Suddenly.. my frantic, empty heart is ...well... full, stilled and content. Once again, I come to this conclusion:

Jesus is the answer.

"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." (James 1:2-4)

"Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

“Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:22-33)

"C.S. Lewis describes his joy in walking through the countryside, how he made it a regular practice. He said that he felt automobile travel was disruptive for the soul, that the human being was meant to live at the pace of walking. I dismissed him as an antique. Doesn't it sound quaint? Nobody walks anymore. We're irritated when the guy in front of us drives five miles UNDER the speed limit. And doesn't that reveal how given over we are to the pace of the world? Frantic - that is how the world lives."
"It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for." Ephesians 1:11 (the message)

Truth Be Told..

...I feel like I am aimlessly stumbling around these days. I don't really know whats going on, or why I am where I am, or what I'm doing. I don't really like it. I'm also realllly sick of the pity parties I've been throwing for myself. Sorry if all thats dramatic, I just needed to get that out there.
I am truly inspired by my friends.

A Prayer in Spring

In honor of national poetry month, pretty words in general, spring, and my heart today... here is a stanza from a poem by Robert Frost.

"Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year."

Dang

"...Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith..."

p.s. I am realizing that nothing happens in real life all pretty the way I would imagine it to in my brain. It's okay though. Life is messy, especially life past the surface level. The stuff you have to dig for (and get your hands dirty for) is usually the most beautiful.

I wish running away was a good solution for anything. I hear your problems just follow you if you do that though. It just sounds so easy.

My journal from this time last year is hillllarrriouuussssss. It is actually really cool though because I am big time walking in answers to prayers that was praying back then. I forgot that I ever prayed those things, but its realllllllly cooool to see how God is working in my life! It gives me a lot of confidence.

This morning I ran across something sooo funny. I don't even know if I remember this or not. My entry from April 12 2010 starts off this way "HAHA! My anthro professor just said 'what are you going to do? hold hands with the polar bears?' hahahha. so silly!" Then I moved on to talk about the rain. But that made me laugh so hard this morning. That guy was redic. I'm glad that this brought me joy not only once, but twice.

If you like silly things....here is some joy.

Beautiful Things

Psalm 131

"God, I'm not trying to rule the roost, I don't want to be king of the mountain.
I haven't meddled where I have no business
or fantasized grandiose plans.

I've kept my feet on the ground,
I've cultivated a quiet heart.
Like a baby content in its mother's arms,
my soul is a baby content.

Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope.
Hope now; hope always!"
(Translation: The Message)

Shoooooooooot dang! This is a beautiful psalm that has been rolling around (ever so ungracefully) in my heart the last few days. The imagery that the psalmist uses of a child in its mothers arms is so beautiful and tangible. God has comforted me through this psalm but also is correcting me. I do not have a very still or quiet heart. Most of the time I am concerning myself with things way above me. I camp out there and set dumb standards for myself that cause me to have a frantic heart. God is teaching me about trust, about rest, and about being still. It's hard to live life when you're a dreamer sometimes. I love the last line of this psalm. "Hope now; hope always!" God is certainly worthy of my hope. I am pretty darn faithless and near sighted... but my teacher is loving, humble and gentle in heart. (Matt 11:28-30). My hope is in him coming through and keeping his promises. My hope is in his love.

Help me to understand your love Father.
