I get asked everyday if I'm in high school. Or someone throws out a "teenager" comment about teenagers expecting me to light up as I am, myself, a teen. I guess you could call this progress though. When I actually was a teenager people asked me everyday if I was on/did drugs. No one believed that I wasn't a pot-head at best. (This question is still posed to me from time to time, but not nearly as much). Maybe in 10 more years I'll get a slightly more complimentary daily question. Like... "Hey, are you by chance a world traveler?", to which I'll reply "You know what -- I actually am!". Or.... "Are you a ________ (gourmet chef/professional swimmer/creative genius)?", to which I'll reply "Oh! I am so flattered, but no I'm not. Just an aspiring amateur ::blushes:: *gigglegiggle*."
Maybe.
Until then, I'll keep ignoring peoples "teenager" comments, drop some college references here and there, and enjoy the lovely people and satisfying conversations that result of this question. But seriously, on another "daily" note, there is no greater dailya pleasure (to me) than meeting a kind stranger and having a good, hearty....heart to heart. Be it 20 minutes or 2 hours, silly or serious, micro or macro, it delights me so deeply. Getting to know people is such an honor. When someone willingly opens up (especially followed by an "I usually don't tell anyone about that") it's a double honor. An open, honest heart is among the greatest of treasures to be found, given, or give.
Amen, amen.
Shout out to Anna Maria. You made my afternoon. A real pleasure to meet you.
a. Daily (my definition): simple, common, frequently occurring, puts up no spectacular front. Often overlooked.
